For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
JITNEY. Any unlicensed taxicab, limousine, courtesy vehicle, or shuttle vehicle.
LIMOUSINE. A luxury car/auto or specialized passenger motor vehicle not equipped with a taximeter and for hire only by prearrangement at a rate charged per hour or fixed in advance, as long as the fixed rate is for a period of longer than one hour.
LIMOUSINE, MOTEL/HOTEL, COURTESY VEHICLE, and SHUTTLE STAND. An area designated and approved by the Safety Service
Director to be reserved for the exclusive use of limousines, hotel/motel courtesy vehicles, and shuttle vehicles while awaiting or discharging passengers.
MOTEL/HOTEL COURTESY VEHICLE. A limousine or specialized motor vehicle operated by a hotel or motel as a courtesy for its patrons or employees at no cost to its patrons or employees.
SHUTTLE VEHICLE. A vehicle that provides ground transportation to and/or from any transportation center including but not limited to: airports, bus stations, or train stations for a flat fee or for free, and any vehicle used to provide transportation as a transfer to and /or from any form of public transportation for a flat fee or for free.
TAXICAB. Any public vehicle whose owner or driver secures or accepts a passenger for compensation of for hire upon hail or request made, on the public streets or public or quasi-public places in the municipality.
TAXICAB STAND. A place of business where a taxicab is available for hire.
