Sec 38-53 Subordinates; Duties Of Assistant Fire Chief
In the absence of the Fire Chief, the Assistant Fire Chief on duty shall command the department and be held responsible therefor in all respects with the full powers and responsibilities of the Fire Chief. Unless the City Manager delegates any such appointive authority to the Fire Chief, the City Manager shall appoint:
   A.   The Assistant Fire Chief; and
   B.   Other officers and employees of the Fire Department, as deemed necessary, after consultation with the Fire Chief.
