10-1-3: VEHICLE LICENSE REQUIRED; APPLICATION:
   A.   Each owner of a motor vehicle registered with the Secretary of State of Illinois to an address or PO Box within the jurisdiction of the City of Prospect Heights or residing in the city shall obtain a license and pay an annual license fee as set forth in this chapter. All owners of motor vehicles residing in the city and all owners of passenger vehicles which have their situs or base in the city regardless of where such owner resides shall obtain a license and pay the appropriate fee for such motor vehicle.
   B.   Each owner of a vehicle (as classified in section 10-1-2 of this chapter) which has its situs or base in the city shall obtain a license and pay an annual license fee as set forth in this chapter for the use of such vehicle in the city. For purpose of this section the "situs or base" of a vehicle shall mean the location where such vehicle is garaged or most regularly parked when not in use by its operator.
   C.   Applications for vehicle licenses shall be made to the city on a form provided. It shall be the responsibility of the owner, operator or custodian of each motor vehicle coming within the meaning of this chapter to make such application when due. The license issued pursuant to such application shall be issued only for the vehicle described in the application. (Ord. 0-13-22, 10-28-2013; amd. Ord. O-19-07, 3-11-2019)
