3-1-4: DEPUTY CHIEF OF POLICE; DUTIES:
The duties of the deputy chief of police shall be to act in place and stead of the chief of police in the event of his absence or inability to act. He shall assist the chief of police in the exercise of all of his duties and shall also perform such duties as may be assigned to him by the chief of police.
The deputy chief of police shall be appointed by the president and board of trustees. (1965 Code)
