The chief of police or his agent is authorized at all reasonable times to enter upon private property and examine any vehicle for the purpose of determining whether or not it is in a discarded condition. However, before entering upon private property, he shall obtain the consent, in writing, of an occupant thereof, if known, or obtain a search warrant authorizing his entry. It shall be unlawful for any person to interfere with or attempt to prevent the service of said search warrant. (2008 Code)
