(A) It shall be a violation of this chapter for any residence to possess, own or otherwise keep more than three dogs and/or three cats in any residential section or area of the City of Pleasanton, except in cases of newly-born litters under the age of three months old.
(B) This section shall not apply to commercial kennels, veterinary establishments, areas over five acres or animal hospitals operated by veterinarians. Those establishments, however, must meet sanitation requirements and keep dogs and cats securely penned.
(C) Enclosure for dogs. An outdoor enclosure used as the primary living area for a dog or used as an area for a dog to regularly eat, sleep, drink and eliminate must have at least 60 square feet of space for each dog six months of age or older.
