9.32.010 PURPOSE.
   The City Council finds that there have been and are a variety of crimes that are committed in the city where action must be taken for the immediate protection of the public peace, health and safety, and that there is a local and municipal interest that person(s) responsible be apprehended in order to protect the public peace, health and safety. In order to apprehend such person(s) and obtain sufficient evidence requires the cooperation of knowledgeable witnesses; that it would be in the best public interest of the city and its residents and for the protection and safety of the persons and property within the city that there be a procedure for offering and giving rewards to person(s) who furnish information that leads to the arrest of persons charged with committing crimes within the city. (Ord. 517 (part), 1988).
9.32.020 OFFER OF REWARD BY RESOLUTION.
   Specific authorization for offering a reward shall be by resolution of the City Council . Such resolution will incorporate by reference the provisions of this chapter, set forth the amount of the reward, the person or persons to whom it applies, and the crime, if any, and the terms and conditions in addition to those contained herein that will apply to a specific reward. (Ord. 517 (part), 1988).
9.32.030 FILING CLAIM.
   Any person(s) claiming a reward for information leading to the apprehension and filing of a complaint charging a person with a crime as provided by resolution described in Section 9.32.020, must within ten days of furnishing such information complete and file with the police department a “claim for reward.” Such claim form shall provided by the police department and shall be in the form as herein provided. (Ord. 517 (part), 1988).
