§ 72.21 PARKING VEHICLES FOR THE PURPOSE OF SALE.
   (A)   Parking and display of motor vehicles for sale is regulated as follows.
      (1)   For the purpose of this section a PUBLIC PLACE is defined as any location to which the public has access or is invited to enter. This definition does not include a private residence, if used for the sale of the owner's or tenant's personal vehicle.
      (2)   It shall be unlawful for any person to leave, stand or park any motor vehicle, boat, trailer, recreational vehicle or similar vehicle on any public property or upon any public place, including vacant land, shopping center parking lots, or any similar area, for the purpose of displaying the vehicle for sale, unless the property is approved by the town to engage in the business of selling motor vehicles.
      (3)   It shall be unlawful for any person to leave, stand or park any motor vehicle, boat, trailer, recreational vehicle or similar vehicle on any unimproved or unpaved lot.
      (4)   (a)   These provisions do not apply to personal vehicles parked on either public place or private property adjacent to a building or location to which the vehicle owner has traveled to perform his or her normal course of business or employment or on a personal errand. Under this division, vehicles must be parked in marked areas designated for required and/or customer parking for the business or location which the vehicle owner is patronizing. Vehicles must also be located on improved lots only.
         (b)   Vehicles for sale permitted under this division can only be located on the public place or private property during normal operating hours of the business.
   (B)   Violation of this section is subject to the following:
      (1)   A vehicle parked on town owned property in violation of this section shall be subject to immediate removal. Prior to causing a vehicle to be removed, a town representative shall attempt to contact the individual whose phone number appears on the "for sale" sign of the vehicle to provide an opportunity for that individual to remove the vehicle.
      (2)   All other violations will be subject to the civil penalties fixed by § 10.99 of the town code of ordinances.
