The Board of Commissioners hereby finds and determines that the original downtown business district of the town, and its accompanying residential areas, is and has been historically significant to the local economic well-being of the greater Pikeville area. The Board further finds and determines that it is therefore in the best interest of the town to designate and establish the original downtown district as a historic business and residential district.

In accordance with § 156.01, the Board of Commissioners does hereby designate the original downtown business and residential district as “Historic Pikeville.”

The boundary of Historic Pikeville shall be generally as follows:
Starting at the intersection of W. School St. and NW Railroad St., proceed southerly along the western right-of-way of NW Railroad St. to the intersection of NW Railroad St. and W. Vail St.; thence, easterly to the intersection of E. Vail St. and NE Railroad St.; thence southerly along the eastern right-of-way of NE Railroad St. to the northern lot line of 102 NE Railroad St.; thence easterly to the northeast boundary of 102 NE Railroad St.; thence generally southerly along the rear lot lines of all the lots lacing NE Railroad St. and SE Railroad St.; thence along the eastern property line of 101 E. Ham St. to the northern right-of-way of E. Ham St.
Thence westerly to the west lot line of the old fire station at 120 SW Railroad St.; thence generally northerly along the rear lot lines of all the lots facing SW Railroad St.; thence, westerly along the rear lot lines of all the lots facing W. Main St. to the east right-of-way of S. Mill St.
Thence northerly to the north right-of-way of W. Main St.; thence easterly to the west lot line of the Pikeville Library at 106 W. Main St.; thence alternating northerly, easterly and northerly along the rear lot lines of the lots lacing NW Railroad St. to the northwest properly line of 305 NW Railroad St.; thence westerly to the eastern right-of-way of N. Mill St.; thence northerly along the eastern right-of-way of N. Mill St. to its intersection with W. School St.; thence easterly along the south right-of-way of W. School St. to the point of origin.
