The Commission shall, upon appointment, post public notice not more than 30 and not less than 15 days before holding a public hearing to amend Chapter 157 of Title 15 of the Code of Peotone pertaining to zoning regulations to assign duties currently assigned to the Plan Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals to the Planning and Zoning Commission and thereafter the Commission shall exercise any powers which may be conferred by state statute, the Board of Trustees and by Chapter 157 of Title 15 of the Code of Peotone. Until such time as such amendment becomes effective, the current Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals shall continue to have and exercise all of their respective powers and duties as set forth in the Code of Peotone.
