In lieu of the requirements of sections 4-1-1 and 4-1-2 of this chapter, the city, acting through the mayor and council, may contract for police services within Minidoka County. Should such a contract be in existence, any reference in this code to "police department", "chief of police" or other reference to police force shall refer to the Minidoka County sheriff's office and to the Minidoka County sheriff, as applicable.
