4-1-2: APPOINTMENT OF POLICE OFFICERS:
The mayor, with the consent of the city council, shall appoint a chief of police and such number of regular patrolmen as may be necessary, and may also appoint special police officers, from time to time, as exigencies arise. The chief of police shall hold office during the pleasure of the mayor. (1975 Code § 1-1302)
