A. Portable Signs:
1. Size: No sign shall exceed four feet (4') in height and eight feet (8') in width.
2. Number: No business shall be allowed more than one sign per street frontage.
3. Location And Duration: All portable signs shall only be located on private commercial property. Signs shall only be allowed for on premises advertising and only at approved locations in accordance with the following duration provisions:
a. Ninety Day Placements: New or relocated businesses shall only be allowed to locate a portable sign for no more than ninety (90) continuous days. After the ninety (90) day period, the sign will be in violation and must be removed. Businesses in operation for more than ninety (90) continuous days shall not be allowed ninety (90) day placements.
b. Thirty Day Placements: Existing businesses desiring to advertise sales shall only be allowed to locate a portable sign no more than once during any ninety (90) day period. The maximum duration of such placement shall not exceed thirty (30) continuous days.
4. Lighting: Interior illumination by other than white light and exterior illumination by other than soft yellow light shall not be permitted. No portable sign shall be animated in any manner.
B. Off Premises Billboard Type Signs:
1. No billboard type wall or roof signs shall be allowed.
2. Not more than one sign shall be allowed per parcel. Minimum spacing between billboard signs on the same side of a roadway shall be no less than one thousand (1,000) linear feet measured along the centerline of the roadway. Minimum spacing between a billboard sign on one side of a roadway from a billboard sign on the other side of a roadway shall be no less than three hundred (300) linear feet measured along the centerline of the roadway.
3. In no case shall the bottom of any sign surface be lower than twelve feet (12') from the ground.
4. All newly constructed signs shall be of single or dual pole, steel construction, completely freestanding without bracing.
5. Billboard signs shall not exceed twelve feet (12') in height, or twenty six feet (26') in length, or exceed three hundred twelve (312) square feet in area. Illumination shall only be by indirect or floodlighting. Lights shall not extend more than eight feet (8') from the sign structure if attached to the sign or sign structure in any way.
C. Off Premises Directional Sign: No sign shall be permitted which causes the combined allowable square footage of all ground or freestanding signs on the property (vacant or developed) to exceed that allowed within the specific zoning use district in which it is located as provided in section 5-10-5 of this chapter.
