(a) For the purpose of securing proper light, ventilation and fire protection, yards shall be provided and maintained adjacent to and on the same lot with every dwelling erected, moved, raised or enlarged.
(b) Behind every such dwelling there shall be a rear yard the width of which measures from the extreme rear projection of the building towards the rear lot line and which shall not be less than one-half the height of such buildings.
(c) If two dwellings are built on a lot, one in the rear of the other, the space between the dwellings shall be the same width as a rear yard and shall be measured between the extreme rear projection of the front building and the extreme front projection of the rear building.
(d) No dwelling shall face on any yard, open way or street less than twenty feet wide, measured from the extreme front projection of such building to the lot line or opposite side of a public street or highway.
(e) No side yard shall be less than three feet wide or one-sixth the height of the adjacent wall. The sum of the side yards shall not be less than twelve feet.
(f) No yard other than a side or front yard shall be less than five feet wide or one-fourth the height of the highest adjacent wall or less than one and one-half times as long as its required minimum width.
