(a) The Law Director is authorized to adjust and settle any claims covered by the self-insurance program established by this chapter where the amount to be disbursed pursuant to the claim does not exceed fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000), exclusive of administrative costs and court costs.
(b) Where the amount to be disbursed pursuant to such a claim exceeds fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000), but does not exceed twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000), such claim may be adjusted and settled by the concurrence of the Mayor and Law Director.
(c) Where the amount to be disbursed pursuant to such a claim exceeds twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000), such claim may be adjusted and settled only by an ordinance adopted by Council.
(d) The Law Director shall inform Council, in writing, of each settlement under subsection (a) or (b) hereof for amounts of one thousand dollars ($1,000) or more.
