137.01 AUXILIARY POLICE UNIT.
   (a)   There is hereby established within the Police Department an auxiliary police unit which shall not exceed three members. The Mayor shall be the executive head of the auxiliary police unit, shall make all appointments and removals of auxiliary police officers, subject to any general rules prescribed by Council and shall prescribe rules for the organization, training, administration, control and conduct of the auxiliary police unit. Subject to this section, the Chief of Police shall have the exclusive control of the stationing and transferring of all auxiliary police officers, under the general rules prescribed by the Mayor.
   (b)   The Village shall not be responsible for any additional clothing for the police officers, and such officers shall be restricted to performance of duties at civic and school functions, except in emergency situations as determined by the Chief of Police and Council during which the auxiliary police officers may be utilized at the discretion of the Chief of Police, but subject to the direction of the Mayor.
   (c)   Members of the auxiliary police unit can be considered for any full-time police position that arises in the Village.
   (d)   No compensation by the Village is authorized except as may result from compensation paid for such services by schools and civic groups utilizing the services of the auxiliary police unit.
