In addition to those remedies set forth in the building code, any person who fails to comply with or violates any of the provisions of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) or by imprisonment not to exceed ninety (90) days, or by both such fine or imprisonment. Any violation of the building code that, pursuant to such code is a civil violation is deemed to be a civil infraction and subject to the provisions of section 1-4-2 of this code.
