The duties of the Law Director are:
(1) To act as attorney and counsel for the City and its officers in their official capacity;
(2) To attend all regular, caucus and special meetings of Council and the Planning Commission;
(3) To prosecute and defend all actions by or against the City or any department or officer thereof;
(4) To render legal opinions to Council and to any department head or officer of the City;
(5) To prepare legislation when requested by the Mayor or any member of Council;
(6) To prosecute all Ontario traffic and criminal cases in the Mayor's Court and the Mansfield Municipal Court;
(7) To perform all legal duties relating to the financing of any City development by means of notes and/or bonds; and
(8) To perform any other legal duties for the City when so directed by Council, by the chairman of any Council committee, or by the Mayor.

(9) To employ special counsel to perform powers, duties and functions authorized by and in the manner provided by the Law Director, as appropriate to their engagement.
