§ 52.008 USE OF PRIVATE WELLS.
   (A)   The use of private wells within the limits of the city shall be permitted only when the city’s water distribution system is not available to the premises on which water is required. The city water distribution system shall, for the purposes of this chapter, be considered available when a water distribution main is located within 300 feet of any part of said premises on which water is required.
   (B)   All existing water wells within the city will be allowed to remain in operation. Existing water wells located on property outside the city will be allowed to remain in operation if the property is annexed.
   (C)   A backflow prevention device (as approved by the City Building Inspector) will be required to be installed on the service line of all properties using city water where an active well is located.
   (D)   The cross-connection of a water well with the city water system under any circumstances is prohibited.
