An excavation permit, as required in Section 903.01, shall not apply to planting of shade trees or grading or sodding of the lawn space located between a property line or sidewalk line and the curb, except as required by Section 907.07, nor for repairing sidewalks, for the improvement of streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters or areas between the sidewalk and curb under a contract with the City.
