2-2-2: APPOINTMENTS:
   A.   Appointments: Members of such Board of Fire and Police Commissioners shall be appointed by the Village President, with the consent of the Board of Trustees. No such appointment shall be made by any Village President within thirty (30) days before the expiration of his term of office.
   B.   Oath And Bond: The members of the Board shall be considered officers of the Village and shall file an oath and a fidelity bond in such amount as the Village President and Board of Trustees may from time to time require.
   C.   Qualifications: No person holding an office under a municipality, shall be a member of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners or the secretary thereof. The acceptance of any such office by a member of the Board or the secretary thereof shall be treated as a resignation of his office. No person shall be appointed as a member of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners who is related, either by blood or marriage, up to the degree of first cousins, to any elected official of the Village.
   D.   Political Affiliations: No more than two (2) members of the Board shall belong to the same political party existing at the time of said appointment. If only one or no political party exists in the Village at the time of such appointments, then State or national political party affiliations shall be considered in making such appointments. Party affiliations shall be determined by affidavit of the person appointed as a member of the Board. (Ord. G-70, 5-9-1967; 2000 Code)
