Pursuant to the provisions of State law 1 , there is hereby created in and for the Village a Board of Fire and Police Commissioners consisting of three (3) members, whose terms of office shall commence on June 1 of the year of appointment and shall continue for three (3) years and until their respective successors are appointed and have qualified except as to the first appointments of such Board, in which case one of said members shall be appointed to the end of the municipal year of appointment, one to the end of the municipal year next ensuing, and one until the end of the municipal year second next ensuing; provided, however, that each member so appointed shall serve until his successor is appointed and has qualified.
