SECTION 5.05. DEPARTMENT OF SAFETY.

The Director of Safety of the City shall perform, except as otherwise provided by ordinance or this Charter, the functions assigned generally to officers of similar title by general law and such other duties not inconsistent with his/her office as may be assigned to him/her by ordinance or by the Chief Executive Officer.

The Safety Department shall include the Police Department and the Fire Department, and they shall not be combined. (Amended November 4, 2008)
