274.03 DISPOSAL OF MUNICIPAL RECORDS.
   (a)   The functions of the Records Commission shall be to provide rules and guidance for the retention and disposal of City records, as defined in Ohio R.C. 149.40, and to review records disposal lists submitted by Municipal officers. The disposal lists shall contain those records that are in original form or that have been microfilmed and purportedly have no administrative, legal or fiscal value to the City or to its residents.
   (b)   When City records have been approved for disposal, a list of such records shall be sent to the Bureau of Inspection and Supervision of Public Offices of the Auditor of State. Before public records are otherwise disposed of, the Ohio Historical Society shall be informed by the State and given the opportunity, for a period of sixty days, to select for its custody such public records as it considers to be of continuing historical value.
