254.14 CLERK III-II-I AND ADMINISTRATIVE SECRETARY IV.
   (a)   In General. The Clerk III-II-I and/or Administrative Secretary IV will maintain or cause to be maintained all files necessary to the operation of the Treatment Plant. He or she will also perform all other duties related to the efficient operation of the office of the Waste Water Treatment Department. The Clerk and/or Administrative Secretary will be on call twenty-four hours a day and supply his or her own transportation to and from the job site.
   (b)   Distinguishing Features of the Class. The Clerk and/or Administrative Secretary will greet all visitors, type all necessary correspondence, receive all incoming telephone calls, maintain files, prepare and expedite necessary reports of the Department and act as an intermediary between City Hall and the Department.
   (c)   Duties. Some of the typical duties of the Clerk and/or Administrative Secretary are typing, filing, receiving visitors and taking all phone calls and directing them to the necessary persons.
   (d)   Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities.
      (1)   The Clerk and/or Administrative Secretary must possess the knowledge and ability to operate Lotus 1-2-3 on the Department computer and to correctly and efficiently operate an IBM Wheelwriter 30 Series II typewriter. He or she must also have knowledge of correct filing techniques and basic knowledge of multiline phone systems operation.
      (2)   The successful applicant must be able to use and wear a self-contained breathing apparatus due to possible exposure to gases used at the Plant. The Clerk and/or Administrative Secretary will be required to use steep stairways in the performance of his or her duties.
   (e)   Basic Qualifications. The Clerk and/or Administrative Secretary must possess and maintain a current and valid driver's license and have the ability to type at least thirty-five words per minute in the English language. He or she must be neat and courteous, with a personality suitable for dealing with the public. The Clerk and/or Administrative Secretary must be able to speak and understand the English language with a high degree of clarity and must be able to use a standard phone system in a professional manner.
