254.08 SHIFT SUPERVISOR.
   (a)   In General. The Shift Supervisor shall have the skill necessary to supervise and assign work and to process all reports necessary to his or her duties. The Shift Supervisor must be on call twenty-four hours a day and supply his or her own transportation to and from the job site. He or she must be able to speak, write and understand the English language with a high degree of clarity and be able to use a standard phone system in a professional manner.
   (b)   Distinguishing Features of the Class. The position of Shift Supervisor is a lower management position. It involves the responsibility for supervising the people on his or her shift, carrying out all orders from his or her superiors, seeing that all others on his or her shift also carry out such orders and making sure that the work assigned to his or her shift is completed.
   (c)   Duties. The Shift Supervisor shall:
      (1)   Assign jobs when necessary.
      (2)   Insure that safe work habits are being followed.
      (3)   Insure that the personnel on his or her shift perform all duties required of them.
      (4)   Prepare all necessary reports for his or her tour of duty.
   (d)   Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities. The Shift Supervisor must possess the ability to perform all necessary treatment processes of the waste water treatment plant and to provide instruction regarding the same. These duties could require the Shift Supervisor to enter confined areas using ladders or steep stairs and/or to enter slippery, limited space areas near deep, turbulent water.
   (e)   Basic Qualifications. The Shift Supervisor must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid commercial driver's license. He or she must also possess a current Ohio Class III Operator's license and must have the ability to follow and issue oral and written orders. The Shift Supervisor must have the skills and ability necessary to use a standard self-contained breathing apparatus.
