Full-time members of the Fire Department shall be appointed pursuant to Article VII(e) and Article XI of the City Charter. Other members of the Department shall be appointed by the Mayor with the consent of Council. However, in the event of an immediate emergency, the Fire Chief, the Mayor or the Director of Public Safety may appoint, without the consent of Council, not more than ten men as temporary fire-fighters for service during such emergency.
Members of the Department appointed by the Mayor with the consent of Council shall continue in office until removed therefrom as provided by law.
