Fees for special permits to move vehicles, combinations of vehicles and loads with overweight-gross loads shall be paid at the flat rate fees established in this Section for weights in excess of legal gross weights, by the applicant to the Police Department. Single trip permits only shall be issued:
A. With respect to fees for overweight-gross loads listed in this Section, and for overweight-axle loads listed in 625 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/15-306, one fee only shall be charged, whichever is the greater, but not for both.
B. In lieu of the fees stated in this Section and Section 6-8-24 of this Chapter, with respect to combinations of vehicles consisting of a three (3) axle truck tractor with a tandem axle composed of two (2) consecutive axles drawing a semitrailer, or other vehicle approved by the Police Department, equipped with a tandem axle composed of three (3) consecutive axles, weighing over seventy three thousand two hundred eighty (73,280) pounds but not more than eighty eight thousand (88,000) pounds gross weight, the fees shall be at the following rates:
Single trip rate $10.00
For such combinations weighing over eighty eight thousand (88,000) pounds but not more than one hundred thousand (100,000) pounds gross weight, the fees shall be at the following rates:
Single trip rate $15.00
For such combinations weighing over one hundred thousand (100,000) pounds but not more than one hundred ten thousand (110,000) pounds gross weight, the fees shall be at the following rates:
Single trip rate $20.00
For such combinations weighing over one hundred ten thousand (110,000) pounds but not more than one hundred twenty thousand (120,000) pounds gross weight, the fees shall be at the following rates:
Single trip rate $30.00
Payment of overweight fees for the above combinations also shall include fees for overwidth dimensions of four feet (4') or less, overheight and overlength. Any overwidth in excess of four feet (4') shall be charged an additional fee of fifteen dollars ($15.00).
C. In lieu of the fees stated in this Section and Section 6-8-24 of this Chapter, with respect to combinations of vehicles consisting of a three (3) axle truck tractor with a tandem axle composed of two (2) consecutive axles drawing a semitrailer, or other vehicle approved by the Department, equipped with a tandem axle composed of two (2) consecutive axles, weighing over seventy three thousand two hundred eighty (73,280) pounds but not more than eighty eight thousand (88,000) pounds gross weight, the fees shall be at the following rates:
Single trip rate -- $20.00
For such combinations weighing over eighty eight thousand (88,000) pounds but not more than one hundred thousand (100,000) pounds gross weight, the fees shall be at the following rates:
Single trip rate -- $30.00
Payment of overweight fees for the above combinations also shall include fees for overwidth dimension of four feet (4') or less, overheight and overlength. Any overwidth in excess of four feet (4') shall be charged an additional overwidth fee of fifteen dollars ($15.00).
D. In lieu of the fees stated in this Section and in Section 6-8-25 of this Chapter, with respect to a three (3) or more axle mobile crane or water well-drilling vehicle consisting of a single axle and a tandem axle or two (2) tandem axle groups composed of two (2) consecutive axles each, with a distance of extreme axles not less than eighteen feet (18'), weighing not more than sixty thousand (60,000) pounds gross with no single axles weighing more than twenty one thousand (21,000) pounds, or any tandem axle group to exceed forty thousand (40,000) pounds, the fees shall be at the following rates:
Single trip rate -- $12.50
For such vehicles weighing over sixty thousand (60,000) pounds but not more than sixty eight thousand (68,000) pounds with no single axle weighing more than twenty one thousand (21,000) pounds and no tandem axle group exceeding forty eight thousand (48,000) pounds, the fees shall be at the following rates:
Single trip rate -- $20.00
Payment of overweight fees for the above vehicle shall include overwidth dimension of four feet (4') or less, overheight and overlength. Any overwidth in excess of four feet (4') shall be charged an additional overwidth fee of fifteen dollars ($15.00).
E. In lieu of the fees stated in this Section and in Section 6-8-25 of this Chapter, with respect to a four (4) or more axle mobile crane or water well-drilling vehicle consisting of two (2) sets of tandem axles composed of two (2) or more consecutive axles each with a distance between extreme axles of not less than twenty three feet (23') weighing not more than seventy two thousand (72,000) pounds with axle weights on one set of tandem axles not more than thirty four thousand (34,000) pounds, and weight in the other set of tandem axles not to exceed forty thousand (40,000) pounds, the fees shall be at the following rates:
Single trip rate -- $15.00
For such vehicles weighing over seventy two thousand (72,000) pounds but not more than seventy six thousand (76,000) pounds with axle weights on either set of tandem axles not more than forty four thousand (44,000) pounds, the fees shall be at the following rate:
Single trip rate -- $20.00
Payment of overweight fees for the above vehicle shall include overwidth dimension of four feet (4') or less, overheight and overlength. Any overwidth in excess of four feet (4') shall be charged an additional fee of fifteen dollars ($15.00).
F. In lieu of fees stated in this Section and in Section 6-8-25 of this Chapter, with respect to a two (2) axle mobile crane or water well-drilling vehicle consisting of two (2) single axles weighing not more than forty eight thousand (48,000) pounds with no single axle weighing more than twenty five thousand (25,000) pounds, the fees shall be at the following rates:
Single trip rate -- $15.00
For such vehicles weighing over forty eight thousand (48,000) pounds but not more than fifty four thousand (54,000) pounds with no single axle weighing more than twenty eight thousand (28,000) pounds, the fees shall be at the following rates:
Single trip rate -- $20.00
Payment of overweight fees for the above vehicle shall include overwidth dimension of four feet (4') or less, overheight and overlength. Any overwidth in excess of four feet (4') shall be charged an additional overwidth fee of fifteen dollars ($15.00).
G. Fees for special permits to move vehicles, combinations of vehicles, and loads with overweight gross loads not included in the fee categories shall be paid by the applicant to the Police Department at the rate of fifty dollars ($50.00) plus 3.5 cents per ton-mile in excess of legal weight. Single trip permits only shall be issued for such movements.
With respect to fees for overweight gross loads not included in the schedules specified in subsections A through E of this Section and for overweight axle loads listed in Section 6-8-25 of this Chapter, one fee only shall be charged, whichever is the greater, but not both. An additional fee in accordance with the schedule set forth in Section 6-8-24 of this Chapter shall be charged for each overdimension. (Ord. O-01-98, 1-5-1998)
