5-1-9: RESISTING, IMPERSONATING POLICE:
   A.   Resisting Or Interfering With Police: No person shall knowingly resist or obstruct the performance by one known to the person to be a peace officer of any authorized act within his official capacity or shall knowingly interfere or prevent a peace officer from discharging his duty as such officer and/or in any manner knowingly assist any person in the custody of any member of the police department to escape or attempt to escape from such custody.
For the purposes of this subsection, "resist" shall mean passive as well as active resistance.
   B.   Impersonating A Police Officer 1 :
      1.   No person shall falsely assume or pretend to be a police officer or a member of the police department of this city or, without being a member of the police department of this city, wear in public the uniform adopted as the police uniform.
      2.   No person shall counterfeit or imitate, or cause to be counterfeited or imitated, any badge, sign, signal or device adopted by the police department nor shall any person use or wear any badge, sign, signal or device adopted or used by the police department or any similar in appearance without authority so to do from the city council.    C.   Penalty: Any person violating any of the provisions of this Section shall, upon conviction, be fined not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) for each offense. (Ord. O-23-79, 11-20-1979; amd. 1992 Code)
