An employee who retires and meets the age and length of service requirements of the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) or the Police and Fire Pension Fund, whichever is applicable, may redeem accumulated sick leave. Example: Such redemption shall be at a rate of four (4) accumulated sick leave hours exchanged for one (1) hour of pay at the employee's last rate of regular pay prior to such retirement, up to a maximum conversion of one fourth of 160 days.
