145.09.1 PERS AND PFDPF CONTRIBUTION.
Generally, all employees, except fire and police personnel, are required to be a member of the State of Ohio Public Employee Retirement System. The Village will deduct 8.5 percent of the employee's gross wages or salary as the employee's contribution to PERS. The Village is required to make a contribution on behalf of the employee each quarter. The Village contribution may vary -- the current amount is 13.55 percent of the employee's gross wages or salary. Generally, full-time police and fire personnel participate in the State of Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund. Employee contributions are deducted from their gross earnings before taxes are applied. Part-time police officers participate in PERS. Part-time fire personnel, hired after August 3, 1992, participate in Social Security (FICA) instead of PERS.
