(a) Upon a vacancy in the position of Fire Chief in the Fire Department of the Village, and prior to the Mayor making an appointment of a replacement Fire Chief, the members of the Fire Department of the Village shall elect, by majority ballot, a nominee to the position of Fire Chief
(b) Upon the members of the Fire Department of the Village electing a nominee to the position of Fire Chief, it shall be the responsibility of the highest ranking officer of the Fire Department to provide the name of the nominee to the Police and Fire Committee of the Village forthwith.
