§ 92.050 PURPOSE; DEFINITION.
   (A)   Purpose. Among the potentially dangerous workplace tasks is entering into confined spaces to perform work. Confined spaces can be death traps for a number of workers who do not follow basic safety precautions before entering these hazardous work areas.
   (B)   Definition. A CONFINED SPACE may be generally defined as any area which has limited means of ingress and egress and is subject to an oxygen-deficient atmosphere or the accumulation of toxic, explosive, or flammable atmospheres. Examples of such areas include sewers, sewage digesters, lift stations, holding tanks, and pipelines.
