There is hereby adopted that certain code identified as the criminal code, more particularly title 18, Idaho Code, and as the same may hereafter be revised by the state legislature, or amended by the governing body, and the same is hereby adopted and incorporated as an ordinance of the city as fully as though set forth at length herein.
Three (3) copies of the said state law, together with any revisions or amendments, duly certified by the city clerk, shall be kept on file in his office for use and examination of and by the public. (1990 Code)
The chief of police shall be the chief of the acting police and all assistant police officers shall be in subordination to him and subject to his orders, except in cases otherwise provided by ordinance. It shall be his duty to cause the public peace to be preserved and see that all laws and ordinances are enforced within the city limits, and when any violation thereof shall come to his knowledge or be reported to him, he shall cause the requisite complaint to be made and see that all possible evidence is procured for the successful prosecution of offenders. It shall be the duty of the assistant police officers to aid and assist the chief in the execution of his duties herein enjoined, and they and the chief or either of them shall have power and authority in the city to execute warrants and other process for the apprehension or commitment of persons charged with or held for examination or trial, or taken in execution for the commission of any crime or misdemeanor or violation of any law or ordinance of the city, and while executing or serving or assisting in the execution or service of any such warrant or process, shall be vested with and have all powers and authority conferred at common law and by the laws of the state.
