2-5-7: APPOINTMENT OF CHIEF OF POLICE:

Notwithstanding anything contained herein to the contrary in this chapter or the rules of the board of fire and police commissioners as referred to in section 2-5-5 of this chapter, the chief of police shall be appointed by the village president, by and with the approval of the village board of trustees, as provided for in subsection 5-1-2A of this code.
