When a retirement date is submitted by a member of the Fire Division other than the Chief, and is accepted and confirmed, then the rank from which the member is retiring and the rank(s) below, if any, may be temporarily increased from the authorized staffing levels established in Section 129.01, by up to one member, for no more than 120 days immediately preceding the retiring member's retirement date.
