The Mayor shall appoint a Fire Chief, with the approval of a majority of the members of Council to serve at his pleasure, either from the existing membership of the Division of Fire of this City, or an individual not a member of the Division of Fire of this City, provided such individual has had not less than ten (10) years experience and training in fire control in a fire control organization of at least comparable size to that of this City.
If said Chief has been appointed from the ranks of this City’s department he may upon removal as Chief return to his previous rank and be reinstated with full benefits should he desire, within thirty (30) days after removal.
