The Division of Fire shall be in active charge of a Fire Chief.
There shall be established a Bureau of Fire Prevention and Investigation within the Division of Fire. The operation of this Bureau shall be by personnel of the Division of Fire. The Fire Chief shall be responsible for its organization and supervision.
All appointments, with the exception of the Fire Chief, shall be made by the Director of Public Safety in accordance with the Civil Service Rules and Regulations.
As a condition of employment as a firefighter, all firefighters hired after the effective date of this Charter amendment shall have been certified by the State of Ohio as a firefighter and shall have been licensed by the State of Ohio as a paramedic and shall maintain said certification and license throughout their term of employment.
