1501.02 ESTABLISHMENT AND DUTIES OF BUREAU OF FIRE PREVENTION AND INVESTIGATION.
   (a)   The Fire Prevention Code shall be enforced by the Bureau of Fire Prevention and Investigation in the Division of Fire which is hereby established and which shall be operated under the supervision of the Fire Chief.
   (b)   The Fire Chief may detail such members of the Fire Division as members of the Bureau of Fire Prevention and Investigation. The Chief shall recommend to the Mayor the employment of technical inspectors who, when such authorization is made, shall be selected through an examination to determine their fitness for the position. The examination shall be open to members and nonmembers of the Division of Fire and appointments made after examination shall be for an indefinite term with removal at the pleasure of the Fire Chief.
   (c)    A report of the Bureau of Fire Prevention and Investigation shall be made annually and transmitted to the Mayor. It shall contain all proceedings under the Fire Prevention Code, with such statistics as the Fire Chief may wish to include therein. The Fire Chief shall also recommend any amendments to the Code which, in the Fire Chief’s judgment, shall be desirable. (Ord. 1978-71. Passed 6-13-78; Ord. 2022-32. Passed 4-12-22.)
