The term of the Mayor elected at the regular municipal election occurring in 2001 shall begin on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in December following the regular municipal election and such Mayor shall hold office until the first Tuesday after the first Monday in December of 2005 or until his successor is elected and qualified. Thereafter, the term of the Mayor shall be for a period of four (4) years beginning on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in December after the Mayoral election and such Mayor shall hold office until his successor is elected and qualified.
