1309.09 AMENDMENTS.
   The Ohio Basic Building Code, as adopted herein, is hereby amended as follows:
   Table 4101:2-51-35 Water Distribution Pipe.
   Water supply pipes for plumbing systems shall be of galvanized wrought iron or steel, brass, copper or cast iron, with brass, cast iron, galvanized malleable iron or copper fittings. No pipe or fittings that have been used for other purposes shall be used for distributing water. Copper tube underground shall be of Type "K." Copper tube for water lines above ground shall be of Type "L" or heavier. Stainless steel tubing for water lines shall be Grade II, Type R-K and R-L, welded red brass tubing may be used for water lines above and below ground and Type R-M may be used only above ground. Welded and drawn copper tubing and welded brass (copper alloy) tubing may be used above ground only.

   Only plastic pipe of the PVC type is approved and the same shall be permitted in all plumbing installations in commercial and residential construction, except for water supply lines which shall be only of galvanized wrought iron or steel, brass, copper or cast iron. Such PVC plastic pipe shall be as listed in the approved standards of Table 4101:2-51-05(A) of the Ohio Basic Plumbing Code (OBPC) which is part of the Ohio Basic Building Code (OBBC).
   All materials for plumbing systems as approved herein shall be cast iron, brass, copper, PVC-type plastic only or other material approved in the Ohio Basic Plumbing Code, Section 4101:2-51, Table 4101:2-51-05(A).
   The installation in plumbing systems of plastic pipe not listed in Table 4101:2-51-05(A) shall also be permitted in accordance with the following requirements and specifications:
   A.   Plastic plumbing pipe to be used in the interior of buildings or dwellings shall be D-2665-78 PVC or Schedule 40 or equivalent in accordance with approved standards for plumbing materials listed in Table 4101:2-51-05(A) of the OBBC.
   B.   Plastic plumbing pipe for use in exterior installations, excluding footer drains (subsoil drains), shall be C-3034-78 PVC or Schedule 35 or equivalent in accordance with approved standards for plumbing materials listed in Table 4101:2-51-05(A) of the OBPC.
   C.   Plastic plumbing pipe to be used for footer drains (subsoil drains) shall be 2726 PVC 1,500 lbs. crush or equivalent in accordance with the specifications of the City Engineer.
   D.   All downspout fillings above grade shall include a standard adapter to accept leader drains.
