(a) The grantee shall have the authority to trim trees, at its sole cost, in accordance with all applicable utility, ordinance and easement restrictions, upon and hanging over streets, alleys, sidewalks and public places of the City, so as to prevent the branches of such trees from coming in contact with the wires and cables of the grantee. City representatives shall have authority to supervise and approve all trimming of trees conducted by the grantee.
(b) Except in emergencies, the grantee may not prune trees at a point below thirty feet above sidewalk grade until one week after written notice has been given to the owner or occupant of the premises abutting the street in or over which the tree is growing. For purposes of this section, emergencies exist when it is necessary to prune to protect the public from imminent danger of immediate interruption of cable signal. The owner or occupant shall have one week from the receipt of the grantee's notice to arrange for an outside contractor to prune the tree at his or her own expense. If the owner or occupant fails to do so, the grantee may prune such tree at its own expense.
