The 2011 edition of the National Electrical Code, as promulgated by the National Fire Protection Association, is hereby adopted by reference and made a part hereof as if fully set forth in this chapter. The purpose of the National Electrical Code, as adopted herein, is to establish uniform minimum requirements to govern the installation, repair, alteration and maintenance of electrical equipment and materials in all buildings and structures and to safeguard persons and property from hazards arising from the use of electricity for light, heat, power, radio, signaling and other purposes.

At least three copies of the National Electrical Code, as adopted in Section 1426.01, are on file with the Clerk of Council and the City Chief Building Official for inspection by the public. At least one copy of such Code is also on file in the County Law Library. In addition, the Clerk of Council shall keep copies of such Code available for distribution to the public, at cost.
