For the purposes of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLE.
(1) Has the meaning ascribed to that term by § 1-101.8 of the Illinois Vehicle Code (ILCS Ch. 625, Act 5, § 1-101.8), as now or hereafter amended.
(2) On the date of the passage of this section, said section defines ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLE as follows: Any motorized off-highway device designed to travel primarily off-highway, 50 inches or less in width, having a manufacturer's dry weight of 1,500 pounds or less, traveling on three or more non-highway tires, designed with a seat or saddle for operator use, and handlebars or steering wheel for steering control, except equipment such as lawnmowers.
GOLF CART.
(1) Has the meaning ascribed to that term in § 1-123.9 of the Illinois Vehicle Code (ILCS Ch. 625, Act 5, § 1-123.9), as now or hereafter amended.
(2) On the date of the passage of this section, said section defines GOLF CART as follows: A vehicle specifically designed and intended for the purposes of transporting one or more persons and their golf clubs or maintenance equipment while engaged in the playing of golf, supervising the play of golf, or maintaining the condition of the g-rounds on a public or private golf course.
NON-HIGHWAY VEHICLE. A motor vehicle not specifically designed to be used on a public highway, including but not limited to all-terrain vehicle, golf cart, off-highway motorcycle, and recreational off-highway vehicle, as defined herein.
OFF-HIGHWAY MOTORCYCLE.
(1) Has the meaning ascribed to that term in § 1-153.1 of the Illinois Vehicle Code (ILCS Ch. 625, Act 5, § 1-153.1) as now or hereafter amended.
(2) On the date of the passage of this section, said section defines OFF-HIGHWAY MOTORCYCLE as follows: Any motorized device designed to travel primarily off-highway on two wheels, having a seat or saddle for the use of the operator, upon or by which any person, persons, or property may be transported or drawn.
PERMITTED NON-HIGHWAY VEHICLE. Only those non-highway vehicles which have been determined by the city to be able to safely travel on, or cross, the roadways of the city, as specifically set forth in § 74.03 which follows and which meet the terms and conditions set forth herein.
RECREATIONAL OFF-HIGHWAY VEHICLE.
(1) Has the meaning ascribed to that term in § 1-168.8 of the Illinois Vehicle Code (ILCS Ch. 625, Act 5, § 1-168.8), as now or hereafter amended.
(2) On the date of the passage of this section, said section defines RECREATIONAL OFF-HIGHWAY VEHICLE as follows: Any motorized off-highway device designed to travel primarily off-highway, 64 inches or less in width, having a manufacturer's dry weight of 2,,000 pounds or less, traveling on four or more non-highway tires, designed with a non-straddle seat and a steering wheel for steering control, except equipment such as lawnmowers.
