This statement reaffirms the policy of the City to hire employees without discrimination as to race, creed, color, sex, age or national background, or physical handicaps not detrimental to performance or general health. All personnel actions, including, but not necessarily restricted to, recruiting, employment, transfer and promotional procedures, reductions in force, City-sponsored training, benefit programs, social programs and recreational programs, shall be administered without regard to race, creed, color, national background, sex or age, except where sex or age is a bona fide occupational qualification, and to correct the effects of past discrimination and to prevent present and future discrimination.
