123.01 LAW DIRECTOR.
   The Law Director shall be the chief legal advisor of the Mayor, Council and the various administrative departments, boards, and officers of the City in the matters relating to their official powers and duties. He shall represent the City in all court proceedings except as herein provided. He shall receive all lawsuits filed against the City and make certain the City's interests are protected. If the City retains other counsel or is represented by other legal counsel in any matters, the Law Director shall monitor the activities of such counsel and be prepared to discuss their services with the Mayor or Council.
   The Law Director shall prepare any contracts requested by Council or the Mayor and shall review and approve such contracts as are submitted to him through the Mayor or as directed by Council.
   The Law Director shall attend all regular and special meetings of Council; attend committee meetings on request; prepare all ordinances and resolutions; and perform all services incident to his office as may be required by statute, City Charter, or ordinance.
