1-9-2: DUTY TO VERIFY RESIDENCE:
Every candidate for municipal office shall include a verification letter to be made by the City Clerk that the address the candidate is registered and residing in is one that is located within the municipal boundaries of the City of McLoud and the seat the candidate is seeking election for. If such a verification document is not provided by the candidate having been issued by the City Clerk, the candidate may have their declaration for candidacy challenged by any registered voter of the City. The challenge shall be filed with the County Election Board, or the City Clerk if receipt refused by the County Election Board, during the challenge window under state law, and a hearing held by the County Election Board, or a hearing before the Municipal Judge if refused by the County Election Board, subject to the conflict provisions held in subsection 8 of this ordinance, and removed from the ballot if the person does not reside within the City of McLoud or the boundaries of the office being sought.
