4-1-3: QUARANTINE; VIOLATIONS:
   A.   It is unlawful for any person to wilfully violate or refuse or fail to comply with any lawful order, direction, prohibition, rule or regulation of the board of health or any officer charged with enforcement of such order, direction, prohibition, rule or regulation.
   B.   During times of public health emergencies, declared by the Governor, Mayor, or other competent authority. The Mayor may issue an order to infected persons, or persons reasonably suspected of being carriers of any contagious disease, requiring such person to remain in quarantine for a period not to exceed 21 days. During such quarantine, such person shall not leave his/her residence except for essential travel for medical exams or treatment, purchasing food or other necessities, or such other purposes as are specified. Such person shall make every effort to avoid unnecessary contact with others.
   C.   A first violation of the Order shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed $200.00. A second or subsequent violation shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.00 and/or 10 days in jail. (1987 Code § 8-503; amd. Ord. 2020-04, 4-16-2020)
