(a) The position of Medical Advisor to the Paramedic Medical Service Unit of the Division of Fire is hereby established. The Medical Advisor shall be appointed by the Director of Public Safety and serve at his or her pleasure. No compensation shall be paid for such services.
(b) The duties of the Medical Advisor shall be to advise the Paramedic Medical Service Unit on proper procedures and techniques involved in specific rescue squad runs; to suggest, provide or arrange for additional training or other work experiences as he or she deems necessary; to review the operation of the Unit on a weekly or monthly basis as he or she determines to be required; to sign any drug permits or licenses requiring medical control or supervision of an M.D.; to submit reports directly to the Director of Public Safety; and to attend such Paramedic Committee or hospital meetings as are deemed necessary.
