(A) Every service pipe shall be laid in a manner as to prevent rupture by settlement. Service pipes shall be placed at sufficient depth as to prevent rupture from freezing. A shut-off or other stopcock with waste valve of the size and strength required shall be placed in the location as the Building Inspector may establish and shall be well protected from freezing. Each joint shall be left uncovered until inspected by the Inspector. The Inspector may establish further requirements regarding the size, nature and laying of service pipes.

(B) Every water meter shall be installed at a convenient height at the point where the service pipe from the water main enters the building. The meter shall be installed in a location and in a manner that the reading and testing of the meter is reasonably convenient. A bracket or other suitable support shall be provided to support the meter and prevent noise and vibration.

(C) Curb stop boxes shall be placed as near as practicable to the curb if on a street or within one foot of the alley line if the main is located in an alley. They shall be installed at an approximate depth of seven feet below the established grade and shall be left in an accurate vertical position when backfilling is completed.
